printer setup

i just recently reformatted my laptop and want to have the printers set up so that i have the same printer in the printer/faxes folder twice - but each one set up with a different port config so that i can just select the usb direct connect version for when i'm not printing wirelessly (and vice-versa). i know this is possible, because i have done it on my mom's laptop exactly the way i'm describing. except now i can't figure out how to do it again. any help appreciated.
