This is a HijackThis log from my dads computer. It's a new computer and has an AMD 64 processor and it has been running pretty well except for one problem. When you try to shut it down, it takes a while. First when you click start > Turn Off Computer, it takes about 5 minutes for the little box (Standby, Turn Off, Restart) to show up. Then when you click Turn Off or Shut down, it takes another 3-8 minutes until it starts to shut down. I'm wondering what kind of problem this could be.
I did at one point that it had to do with Windows Update. On this computer, the updates don't install untill you turn the computer off. When I tried to Update the computer, a while ago before the shut down problem occured, the internet crashed and the updates didn't finish. The computer was messed up ever since. By the way, this computer runs on a dial-up connection so it isn't easy to update. I haven't tried to update since this problem (This computer isn't at my house, I really never have a chance to use it.) I'm going to try to update the computer later today and see if it may fix the problem. This may have nothing to do with the shut down problem though..... I did the Microsoft Update and the shut down works fine now.
I did a Spybot scan and these were the results: BackWeb lite, Firewall_Anti, and then 2 Windows Security Center Disable Notify ones that I know mean nothing. Is it safe to remove BackWeb lite? I removed it once on this computer a couple months ago and I got a lot of messages when shutting down if I remember correctly. What is BackWeb? Can it do any harm? What is Firewall_Anti? Also, I would like the HijackThis log check even though I fixed the origional problem. |

Run Hijackthis and select "Do a system scan only", place a check by the following entries.
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TY... on&pf=desktop R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TY...ion&pf=desktop R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TY...ion&pf=desktop R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TY...ion&pf=desktop R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TY... on&pf=desktop O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE Close all open windows and browsers, and hit "Fix Checked". Find and delete this file (its probably in the C:\Windows folder). ALCXMNTR.EXE Backweb is used by HP for updating. It used to be considered spyware, but they've cleaned up their act a bit now, most spyware programs don't flag it, it's up to you if you want to keep it. Firewall_Anti is a trojan, althought there's no sign of it in the log. Check in the C:Windows folder for Firewall_Anti.exe.
