Default lagging after malware sticky done heres the hijack this data
heres the log
I have 37 processes running and its bogging my computer down making me lag occasionally in games
I have a prescott 3.0
6800 gt
on a p4p 800se
with 2 x 512 gb corsair value 3200

and i am randomly lagging in civ 4

I went into msconfig and unchecked all of the startups
but i left all the services alone

if i could uncheck them without losing my sound i would
what can i do to get rid of some of these processes

I did all the steps in the malware sticky
and got rid of quite a bit but i think there is still more

If you've disabled things with msconfig, we need to see the log from normal startup.

Go into msconfig and select "normal startup", I got 3 svchost.exe running, it's not a problem.

Edit: Reboot then post the log.

ok after readign several things about this

I have 2 hared drives 1 is nearly empty
can i just put all the things i want to save on one of the hard drives

(the one without windwos on it) and then reinstall windows and reformat the old hard drive?

without losing the info i moved to the new hard drive?

Do you know what this is?

Find the file and check out the properties.

You got Zonealarm installed when you've already got Norton security suite. Either get rid of zonealarm or dump norton and use a free antivirus.

i noticed today when i was playing civ 4 that i had 75000 memory left

thats not much

i have to think thats why im lagging

tough to believe that 1gig of memory doesnt get it done anymore
ill check on that ewidow and that file
