Default what type of sound card/ speaker combination?

i plan on getting a 5.1 or a 7.1

not sure on sound card though!
does a mobo come with on/board free sound?
ill buy some really cheap speakers for now maybe.


i think i may save for 2 more pay checks and go all out.
i have 2 jobs so 2 weeks

any input?

Well most any motherboard to date comes with onboard sound. It might not be the best but it's sound. Don't go buying a $20 sound card though before you research your onboard sound, chances ae onboard is probably better than something that cheap.

Audigy makes very nice sound cards, but they tend to be overpriced.

I had an Audigy 2 sound card, and compared to my built-in SoundStorm i thought the Audigy 2 was worse. I have a 4.1 speaker setup, been happy with them for a long time.
