Question sound blaster live sound card makes windows run slow

i got this sound blaster live sound card from a friend out of an old gateway with windows me and i put it in my computer which has windows xp and it makes the op run slow also it is this is the only sound card i have that will run my boston digital ba735 speakers and i tried disabling the onboard sound in the bios that didnt work so what else could i try. plus the sound card doent allow my speakers to work on my computer but it works on the old computer.

So when the sound card is in, your not able to hear any sound correct? Have you tried installing the latest drivers and such? And does Windows Device Manager show a unknown sound device?

i will try that do you think it will make the os run faster cause it runs really slow when in and fast when out it recognizes it in my computer ill upgrade the drivers thanks for your help!
