Computer Slows After Program Execution

Hi,

Recently, my computer is running completely normal but after I transfer some files, sign on to my AOL account (It's through aol.com and not actually AOL), etc. my computer will become VERY slow. I don't really know what's wrong. I do download music through Limewire Pro so at first I thought I just had a virus or something but I don't get why it would only become slow after a major program execution. Anyways, I've been running Norton and Adaware and haven't come up with anything. Please help!

what are your specs that might give us a clue.
it might be worth downloading avg free it is a bloody good free virus scanner that i trust my new computer with

Um...just off the top of my head it's a L&C Model: LC-A350ATX with a Total Output of 350W Max for my PSU and my Graphics card is a Radeon 9800 Pro 256 MB.

Any links to AVG virus scanner?
