Default Do I need a 108mbps Network card for my laptop if I have a 108mbps Router????

Hi...I just bought a belkin dual band A+G 108mbps router the other day. I also have a Netgear WG511 Network card for my laptop that is 54mbps. For some reason when I try to use the network card it seems really slow. Does anyone know if I was suppose to buy the 108mbps network card? Should I go return my router N get a wireless G only? Has anyone ever used the Dual band A+G before? is it any good ? Thank.....
