Default Issue with Switching Users in winxp

I am having a problem with windows xp. What
happens is that when I switch to use another account, and then log off
on the 2nd account to go back to the first one that is still open, my
screen goes black and the computer hangs. The only thing I can do is to
do manual shutdown by pressing the power on/off button on my pc. I am
already up-to-date with microsoft's updates, and I've got sp2 as well. I
understand from an article in microsoft's website that there is a
hotfix for this issue. But I am not sure if this is correct. For referrence,
the article id is 328934. I'm using a dell desktop, so I decided to send an email and ask them about it. They replied back saying that it is most likely a case of spyware, and asked me to do a system restore, as well as scan for spyware. The thing is that I've come to realise this problem has been persisting for a while now, and doing a system restore would definitely mean having to save and download quite a few things to the pc all over again. Does anyone have any suggestions besides doing a system restore?

I've already done a virus scan with McAfee, AVG and A-squared. I've also used spybot and ad-aware to clear up all that garbage spyware. It is somewhat of a hassle to obtain the hotfix since I am not from U.S and I can't seem to find an email add for my local Microsoft group. Anyone has any alternatives of maybe can provide me with a place to get the hotfix?
