Arrow "Failed to allocate back-buffer" - error, Help!

I keep getting this error:
"Failed to allocate back-buffer. Your graffics card might not have enough memory. Try to reduce the screen resolution or colour depth and run again."

I get this error message with the folowing programs:
Game maker 6
Age of empires 3 demo
Dark basic trial
..and some others i cant remember.

I did use Game maker 6 a lot then one day when i opened it, it said that error.

I tryed what is says to try and that didnt work
Can anyone help

go to your graphics card settings and go to the troubleshooting tab, and see if hardware accelleration is on full, if not set it to full. thats the only thing i could think of that would cause that error

right click your desktop, select properties. go to settings then click advanced.
then select troubleshoot for the accelleration options
