win xp

ok can i reistall xp on my compaq 6320 . all i have is the sysytem restore disk.

You could but then you would have to install all of the new hard drive that you add before either the purchase or installation.

Save everything you want to save on a cd.. or backup hd... Restart the computer.. Press f2 to go into bios.. Change the boot order to boot form cd first.
Restart and pop in the disk and follow directions. Easy!

I would save it onto a cd but the virus just shuts the comp off with a 60 sec countdown

is that the problem? u probably got the blaster worm.

if u want you can try removing it first if u have doubts in formatting..

ok i got it to safe mode system restore somehow. now it boots win xp and then when i got into my user name its fine. but then i try finding the new drive i installed and its not there. what do i do?
