Are all 3 plugs from the speakers plugged into the sound card? Find the documentation for your card and make verify which port is which and make sure they match the cord being plugged into it.

Don't worry about digital, you don't have it (speakers anyway). It's a way to transmit the data for all 5.1 speakers in a single cord.
