Well do you plan on doing any gaming on the laptop? Or is this mainly going to be for word processing, email, that sort of stuff?

thinkpads are some of the best made notebooks out there. I'd deffinately go that way! not to mention, if ur in college, ur gunna want a good keyboard, which thinkpads rule that area.

I say the IBM thinkpad, here's why.. not that it is any better than the apple. If you get the thinkpad you will be running windows just like the majority of your peers will, so if something happens or you need help more then likely someone will say..oh I know what that is, plus if someone has a program to share with you at college it more then likely will be windowsbased. As far as networking it does not matter which one, and if the college provides software they will more then likely have versions for both.

mac products are very good and give crystal clear pictures on their monitors but i think that navigating a windows product is much easier and more sufficient. i would have to say go with the thinkbook even though i dont kno what it is lol. that's just my opinion because i don't like macs and i've had bad experiences with them.
