Hi all

I've been bugged by spams recently. Whenever I open IE, there will always be lots of pop-up windows. I've reformatted my com but the same prob is still there?

Is there any way where I can get rid of the spam?

Use firefox. It is way safer than IE. I use both although. Install google toolbar that has a free popup stopper in it. I also use Popup Stopper Professional. Have you ever ran hijackthis on your system??

First follow this guide to remove the malware: Basic Malware Removal

Then, switch to a better browser like Firefox or Opera if you don't absolutely need IE.

Depends...do you have the latest one, and have you "tweaked" it for better protection. i get none right now, but with an older un-tweaked version i get some.

sure

To clarify, it doesn't block 100% of banners, but it does bloack alot of them. For instance, I can't see the google or weddesignforums.com ads on this site lol (IE6 shows them)

For starters get the "AdBlock" Extension for Firefox. https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...cation=firefox

You can download these filters if you want, or search "firefox filters" on Google for others. http://www.pbworks.net/download/inde...ck-filters.txt

If your filters are too "strong" you may not be able to view certain sites, so mke sure you don't block every thing on the face of the earth. Experiment with different sets and see which meet your browsing needs.

There is more hold on...

http://www.gozer.org/mozilla/ad_blocking/

Follow those instructions. The first "stable" way of blocking ads is the only thing I did. You can go further if you wish to block more or more specific sites and such.

You can actually right-click images you don't want displayed and click "Adblock Image" (you have to have AdBlock installed of course). It adds that image/URL to the block list and you will never see it again

http://www.pierceive.com/filtersetg/...structions.txt - Follow those instructions once you have Adblock and Filterg.set installed and everything should be good. I jsut did this and am very satisfied.

You can also right-click any image on a site, and select "block images from [url]" and this will block ALL images from that website. You cna undo this by going into Tools > Options > Web Features > Exceptions > And deleting that site from the lsit.
