Blue....as you may know, I just got those speakers about a week ago. I mounted the rear speakers to my wall. After some calibration, they sound great!!! As for the monitor, very nice!! I have a 19' Samsung 915N and love that thing. I've always had CRT until I picked up this Samsung. It has an 8ms response time and, like you, I have noticed zero ghosting. Only downfall I percieve from LCD's is the native resolution. I am not sure what your Viewsonic's native res is but on mine its 1280 x 1024. Thats fine. My issue is if your computer is not quick enough to run games at 1280 x 1024, you lose out in image quality.

Mine is 1280x1024 also but my computer is fast enough to play most games at that resolution. To be honest games at 1024x768 look great. I played FEAR at this resolution and I thought It looked just fine. Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour won't play anything higher then 1152x864 and it looks great. And I'm currently playing Vampire Bloodlines at 1152x864 and it looks real good. I've read good and bad reviews on the monitor. One reviewer said that other resolutions lower then the Native looked perfect while other reviewers said it still suffered from Interpolation as all LCDs do. I would suggest that It most likely does suffer Interpolation but if you are like me you don't notice it much even when your testing all resolutions on a certain game.

Thanks for the kind words and I hope you enjoy your LCD for a long time to come.

My first switch to an LCD monitor was when my parents bought a compaq that came with a norcent 17" LCD monitor. It was just when LCD's were coming on the market. That one was fine, except blurring was apparent, and the plastic border around the screen was friggin huge. Now just recently I bought myself a computer, and I bought a BenQ 17" monitor with a 12ms response time. It was the cheapest 17" LCD monitor at Futureshop, but god does it ever blow away my old one! I play a lot of games, and I dont notice any ghosting. I'm not saying that its impossible to find it, but you sure would have to look for it to notice. The colors are brilliant, the screen is crystal clear, and I dont notice any degrading when playing games at lower than the native resolution(due to my crappy graphics card). LCD's are much easier on the eyes too, and take up MUCH less space. It makes your setup look SO much cleaner.

Blue why you so cool?

Anyhow... im guessing 8ms is the best? Dont know much about that stuff... and hertz. I do like Viewsonic brand, but 400+ is too much money. I was thinking of 2 x 17inch LCD's. Just any black Viewsonics.

As for your 5500 speakers, how are they in games like CS. I have headphones, and I can hear people coming from any direction around me. Is it the same with speakers, or do you just hear noise all around? Can you really pin point the direction?

I love your desk too, depth is big enough to put keyboard on top, I hate the trays. Also what is that thing to the left of the monitor, looks cool.

Blue... why you so cool? Also, contact me Blue, got a question.

No 8ms is not the best but it is dam good. My screen has a 3ms grey to grey and a 5ms black to white.

Yea you really can pinpoint where the sound is coming. If someone is behind me then I hear them in the rear speakers that sit just behind and off to the side of my chair.

Thank you . I could not find a desk that I liked so I went to a furniture store where they sold unfinished furniture and bought a small dining room table (which is my desk) I then cut the legs shorter so that the table where at a comfortable height cut the board on the side I sit so my legs would fit under comfortably and stained it . So yea it begun life as a dining room table then modified to be my desk. I'm not sure what you seeing to the left of my monitor but I'll name everything on my desk . to my right there is a speaker and lamp with a picture of two wolfs under it as well as my mouse sitting on it's charger. On the left of me is another speaker along with the control centre for my speakers and a stuffed dog. Under the monitor is a little remote control truck.

Yes that is it. Notice both links you showed there have the same monitor but the specs change slightly. Don't be too fooled by this as pretty much everywhere I read it is like this. Reason is that it started life as a 4ms grey to grey but ended up being able to go grey to grey in 3ms so many advertise it as that and others still advertise it being 4ms. Also you'll find places where it will say 5ms black to white while others say 6ms. either way it is a really fast monitor and I love it! I recommend it to anyone. I just finished play a session of NFS Most Wanted where it ran it flawlessly.

Edit:

I cannot because I have IM turned off as I had trouble awhile back with a forum member and found it best. Feel free to ask in my thread here though.

You prob. could although I personally don't know. It should say on their website or maybe you can contact someone there. I bought my screen in a store which is my proffered method. I have however read many reviews and there were no dead pixels and mine is fine also. A heads up, Viesonics dead pixel policy sucks from what I understand it is 7 dead pixels which is high. But their monitors are quality and happily I report no dead pixels.
