Default Problem Converting Music on my computer

Well, the title says it all. Wen im converting music or any other files on my computer, it always freezes. I dont know why, I just installed windows pro service pack two. Please help if you can.

I would, but i dont know anything about computers like what to tell you guys or where to find this information.
All I know about it is that it has:
111 GB memory
AMD Athlon XP 3200+
512 MB Ram
ALL-IN-WONDER 9600 Video Card

what do you mean "converting"? do you mean you are trying to rip a cd, or are you converting an existing file to an .mp3?

yeh i was confused by what he said too. are you changing the format of the file (ie. from like mp3 to wav or mpg)??? specify that and then we'll take it from there

do you have the newest version of the program that you're using? sometimes older versions are harder to use on newer systems because the technology is so old. what about trying to configure the songs with a different program?

What temps are you getting? use something like Motherboard Monitor 5 or SpeedFan to check.
