Default P4 vs Pentium M???

Ok heres the story.. this kid at school is trying to tell me, His laptop's pentium M, i think 1.8 GHz, "could smoke" my pentium 4 3.2 GHz. I mean is it just me or is he f**king retarded. lol cuz if im the dumb one here i wanna know. Im pretty sure the L2 cache is somwhat high but it dosent make it better,and also dosent only the pentium 4 have hyper threading, and if Pentium M is so much better why wouldnt they use them in desktops....

benchmarking, how can i put this, basically "rates", so to speak, your computer. you can benchmark you processor and the benchmark program will give you a number. you could do it on your computer, then your buddy could do it on his and the one with the higher number would be the champion of the world. lol.

there are quite a few benchmarking programs. i think that 3dmark '05 is probably the most widely used on this site.

you can download a trial version of it, so you dont have to buy it.

fishsticks, I have some bad news, your friend could be right. A Pentium M is a pretty hard CPU to beat, as long as he has a good video card and RAM, he might just be right.

cause they are usually low voltage chips capable of using less power, for laptop batteries. unless he is running 2 gigs of ram like u r i dont think his benchmarks can match urs.
