Hi,

Has anyone ever had to tweak there TCP/IP setting whilst gaming to prevent interruptions? I ask because I keep getting 'connection interrupted' whilst playing Quake3 or simply lagg when playing other games (CSS, Q4).

I played these over the same wireless connection on my laptop without any lagg or interruptions and since I built a new computer (sig) and installed XP Pro I have always had these interruptions.

I can play these games offiline without any problems what so ever but online I get this frustrating lagg.

Anyone had any experience with tweaking there settings for better game play? or does anyone have any other ideas as to where I can start in terms of troubleshooting.

for the record, I have try de-installing antvirus software and disbaling my firewalls.

do you have any other programs that are downloading anything? cuz that might be the problem
if not maby get the antena to point at your comp and your pc wirless card to point at your router.
maybe its another wireless device that interunpting your connection, (have you played on your laptop where your comp is? if you can then its probably not this.)
or maybe its a crappy wireless card that you got

as far as any tweaks i dont think there are any b/c i tried looking for some b/c i lagged in CSS but i just changed some setting in the game and its all good now

I have a belkin modem/router and now a belkin PCI network card, used to be linksys USB and I still had the same problem, I thought changing the network card so that both manufacturers were consistent would maybe solve my problem, but It didnt

I'm running on a wireless connection with a Netgear router and a Foxconn wireless card, however the wireless car is really good, its a PCI card and it has an antenna that you plug in and everything. Maybe try getting a PCI wireless card instead of a cheap USB one.

sorry, had a typo in my other post, I do have a PCI card instead of a USB one, I figured the change would fix things butt it didnt.

Any ideas people?

I'd try a different router. I used to have another netgear router (different model though) and I kept losing my connection randomly and the internet was ultra slow on both the PC's I had hooked up to it. So, I returned that one and got a different model (a cheaper one, if you can believe it) and I haven't had any problems since.

BTW- I have a Netgear WGR614 Wirless G Router
