I recently obtained a used HP system. Everything looked intact. Didn't pay much for it.
The system came with recovery disks but there is one scratch on disk 1 and it is preventing it from loading the OS, which unfortunately is ME. I contacted HP to see about ordering a new set of recovery disks but since ME is no longer made they cannot help me. The previous owner did an Fdisk and wiped the system then discovered that they could not reload so they sold the system. When I start the system it shows the ME logo and then goes to a DOS screen which states something like...could not find *** file. You may need to reinstall Windows. What can I do at this point? Thanks! |

Okay, still need some help here.
I fdisk the drive and tried to install Windows 98, because that is all that I have that is not part of recovery systems. It appeared to be working until it said "Windows setup requires 7340032 bytes available on your C: drive" I went and looked at the partitions and this is what it reads Partition: C: 1 Status: 1 Type: PRI DOS Volume label: Mbytes: 29206 System: FAT32 Usage: 100% Help! What do I do next? Thanks! |
