How many times a year do you guys reformat your hard drive??

I was told some people do it once every two months.

About once a day from ghosting... once a week from manual formatting

why reformat unless something goes wrong, surely you should be able to keep your systems in shape for at least a year by defrag and other general cleanup procedures? i think once a week is just stupid and unecessary!

I have heard many a case where, low-level formatting kills the drive, so I believe it better to only format if necessary, keep upgrading the system, defragging it, and delete unnecessary junk... but formatting.... only when needed... it's like with paper and writing... you can only erase in one place so many times before the paper tears.... the platters won't tear or break... but the magnetic properties of them may become less stable...

Because I can.

Yes but I change my OS multiple times a week. And multibooting is incredibly hdd inefficient

Ghosting and formatting can defrag faster than normal defraggin
