i guess your right about the dualcore's "but" here in the near future i would think that games will soon take advantage of it, am i correct

also if i used a 4000+ would it be smart to use something like pc3500 considering im ocing the cpu

another thing,,,so the sound card dont really mean $H!T or what
cause 2gb ram sounds so much better

does raid(where it spilts the labour)help with fps(i hear thats better for stuff like AOM, which i like) during gameplay
if so i might go that way

would this be a good gamin pc for 1500
1. Looks like you left out a PSU
2. Decent stuff all around but nothing special.

- AMD Athlon64 X2 4200 [S939, Manchester, ADA4200DAA5BV, $400]
- DFI LanParty UT NF4 UltraD [$125]
- eVGA 7800GTX [470/600, $470]
- WD 250GB [16MB, SATA3.0, $130]
- Arctic Cooling Freezer64 [$30]
- OCz PC3200 VX 2x512MB [CL2, $145]
- OCZ PowerStream 520ADJ-SLI [$115 after $25MIR]
- SoundBlaster Audigy2 ZS [$70]
Subtotal = $1485

although if ur using it for gaming u know that ur dual core processor can be fully utilized while gaming. so if ur a mainstream gamer u might wanna go with sometihng more like
Huh?

Quote:
but if ur really only doin gaming u dont need a dual core becuase games cant utiliza dual cores yet
They cant?

Quote:
yes please elaberate for me
are you saying dual core wont do anything for the purpose of gaming
just having it will help other things??
He is [incorrectly] suggestiung that games are not extensively multithreaded enough to benifit from a dual core CPU

what kind of power should i send to this baby
550W?, 650W?
and is it bad to be safe and go to high
See PSU 101.

If its for gaming I suggest atleast a 10K RPM HD,
1. At least? True SCSI drives are superior but theres not much of a benifit once the game is loaded
2. Yes Raptors are a must ... because there's just so much harddrive activity once the game is all loaded and all

(someone correct me....)
Consider yourself corrected. Have a look at HDD 101 for more elaboration

Yes but try having 600 modern games.

Not nearly as much as it did a few years back.

It doesnt. Have a look at the RAID0 section in RAID 101 for more

all UT's, doom 3, fear, cod, cod2, all bf's etc. so, if youre only gaming the HD should be fine, tough,.. i dont have very much space left.. like 15Gb or something like that . ( suggesting a 250Gb HD tough.. ^_^ )

Yes but 60 is an order of magnitude off from 600 (that and often people will want to run disc images to avoid [potentially] damaging original discs )
