Default internet connection laptop -> PC

I used to go with my laptop through a main Pc in my flat to the internet. I connect laptop and PC with a network cable. It was working well until the main PC had to be formated. Both PCs use windows xp home edition. THe main PC is connecting to the internet via speedtouch modem and DFÜ, which is working without problem. For any reason I am not able anymore to get an internetconnetion on my laptop.
IP Adressen Einstellung
PC: 192.168.0.1 (Subnetmaske 255.255.255.0)
laptop:192.168.0.2
On my laptop under internet connections I can see the Internetgateway of the main PC. THe status is showing "connection made and active.
But while choosing the internet explorer I receive the message "Server not found"
All Firewall and zone-alarm properties have been checked. Even after switching of zone alarm it is not working.
I followed already all different instructions how to create a network connection, without success.

I now it is difficult to help from the distance, but I do really hope that there is somebody outthere with help.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

What you need to use is ICS...internet connection sharing, I really do not like ICS, but that is just me. I think if you run the network set up wizard you will be fine. If you have the cash I would invest in a router, they are really cheap now and work far supperior to ics + you get built into the router NAT and SPI, also most routers are wireless now, so if you do not need the wireless make sure you turn it off.
