Exclamation Ram In Gaming

If there were two identical systems, say amd 64bit 3000 with 9800 pro. 1 had 512mb and 1 had 1024mb, would there be a significant difference (mainly in gaming). Is it worth spending extra to the 1024. How much better will it perform?
Thankyou

You would see a huge differnce. 1 gig of ram is pretty much required for todays gaming systems.

yes, i went for 230$ worth of 2gig high bandwith ram, comparing it to value ram at 90$, you will see a HUGE difference, plus value ram wont overclock well at all.

go for 1 gig of good ram, like ocz or geil or crossair.
they will range from 150+$

but it is well worth it "cause it something you need for gaming

you can get value ram if you dont overclock your system
there is about a 2fps difference between high end RAM and value RAM when playing games.
i would go gor 1Gb of Value RAM if you dont overclock.
that would cost about $90 ( probably even less. )

but what sort of RAM do you need?

if u have more RAM u will result in shorter load times and less hitching during game play, but more RAM doesn't improve frame rate as the video card does. the most important thing for gaming is ur video card followed closely by the CPU speed and the amount of installed RAM in your machine

if you have 2 Gb of RAM, and you're playing FEAR, the pc is using ABOUT 1,6Gb of ram
