Default This works...right??

well i was going to get the motherboard in my sig untill i read somewhere that DFI/MSI outperform ASUS boards so i decided to get a DFI. which leads me to my question:
will this motherboard(DFI LP UT nF4 SLI-D Socket 939)
and this CPU(AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Toledo) work? becuase the motherboard specs say
Quote:
CPU Type: Athlon 64 FX/Athlon 64/Sempron
and of course the CPU is X2
some of you might say that since its not there then it must not be but i have seem some people here with a DFI motherboard and a X2 CPU and i check the motherboard specs which doesnt have x2 as a CPU type. I just want to make sure before i get them.

I dont think so, since in the description it doesnt say that it supports Athlon 64 X2 Series.

Yes, it does but if the motherboard doesn't come with one of the latest Bios, you'll have to update it to support X2s

EDIT: Here I found a thread in another forum in which a guy asks which Bios works well with X2s:

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...p/t-73620.html

EDIT 2: Furthermore, here you have a link to DFI's Bios updates page for this mobo and, as you can see, in the latest one it mentions that some performance problem was solved. So, yes it supports X2s.

A general rule is if your mobo supports the FX series than you can put in an x2 with a BIOS flash.

No it's not. The CPU is a Athlon64 X2. Which is a subset of the Athlon64 family

Since when was this rule enacted? My original Lanparty NF4Ultra-D, that box recognized my FX53 but didnt recognize the X2-3800 ....

It should be noted however, my 2nd LanParty Nf4Ultra-D detected the X2-4200 right off the bat ... so it depends on the BIOS rev that ships with the board.
