Talking DMM to check for continuity in the mobo.

how do i do so?
as most of you know, my psu was faulty and blew up in my case. the manual says the psu protects the hardwear

"Also included are a variety of industrial-grade protective circuitries: OCP (over current protection), OPP (over power protection), OVP (over voltage protection), SCP (Short circuit protection), and UVP (under voltage protection).

now, if that is true, my mobo should be fine?

and i want to check this out so, how would i use a DMM to check for continuity in the circuits?

thanks-Joe

Umm, im pretty sure your system will be fine !,
Yes there is a way to test your mobo with the DMM !!
There are caps on the mobo (capasitors). The CAPS look like little mini barrells with a metal top ! (you might want to have a look on google or summin to get a pic of a capasitor !.
They have little X`s on the top !, when they lay flat they are OK, when they are Expanded !! they are probably blown !! use your DMM to test this if that is the case !

Im pretty sure they wound be the first thing to blow on a mobo if summin were to go.

one is a little rounded at the top but the others look fine...

my black ones look ok. the 2 green ones look good but the one yellow looks a little iffy...

those are the ones with the wires wrapped around them. the yellow capaciters wires are buldged and the wire is a bit farther away from the capaciter.

all of the cylinder cap. have flat heads and look ok.

k, the ones on the left on the picture are bad, mine look good.
the one on the far right looks like mine in the picture, but the wires wrapped around are a little swollen, so how much bulging of the wires is tooooo much?

BIG QUESTION::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

can someone open THEIR OWN case, look at the donut like capasiters and tell me what they look like?
they are easy to find, just give me a description on what they look like.

for example: the green donut capasiters have wires that are skinny and are wrapped around the capasiter tightly

the black capaciter has wires that are fatter and more spread apart, some of the wires arent huging the capaciter tightly.
describe the donut capaciters like that exactly.
look at the picture in the previous post, that is what a circle capaciter looks like.

thanks you so so so much

The easiest way is to just get a new PSU and try to power up the system. If it doesn't work try to check everything (RAM, CPU, etc) before you get a new motherboard.

I suppose it is easy for me, I have a large supply of compter parts a short drive away ready for borrowing if I really need to.

But you need a new PSU anyway, so why not get one and test it with what you have before you go buying all kinds of new hardware?

i called the antec guys and they said they hardwear should most likly be fine.
they say it has protective features that prevent that, they said it shorted the way it did to prevent the hardwear from dieing...

and im not getting new hardwear, and if the stuff doesnt work and newegg wont take it, antec is gona be in trouble, so im just gona RMA my psu and get a free replacment.
