Im planning on getting 2x 1GB sticks of DDR400 memory. Im debating between the Corsair ValueSelect for $85 or the Corsair XMS CL2 for $130. Im into gaming, want to get into video editing, and i plan to overclock.

XMS will be better for overclocking especially because of heatspreaders

generaly, if you are doing gaming and videoediting. dont get the value stuff. unless you have a REALLY tight budget. quality is very important in computer stuff.

Value RAM is fine if you know what to get.

not for performance, even if you have two sticks of ram exactly the same specs, ecept one is value ram, and one is performance. the performance ram will almost always beat the value ram

I just sold a 512MB stick of my valueselect so i need to buy a 1GB ASAP. So you think its worth spending the extra $35 to get the XMS?
Im debating between these 2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145488 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145560

But for the most part, if you want to overclock, get the good stuff. I wouldn't particularly get XMS RAM, but it will be better than standard Value RAM from Corsair for overclocking.

I'd rather get the XMS, since the OCZ w/ CL2 costs $135.
What one would you choose? XMS CL3 (3-3-3-8) for $106 or XMS CL2 (2-3-3-6) for $122

fair enough, money doesn't grow on trees.
The cas2 stuff is what i would get. CAS3 on a gaming rig will hurt performance, and probably won't overclock well either.
