Default DVD Decoders??

Hey I'm back with some more dumb questions. When I try to play a DVD, I get a message from Windows that Windows Media Player cannot currently play DVD's. (it's Media Player 9) Then when I click on the More Information tab, it refers to a DVD Decoder, and gives this: Error Code = 0xC00D116A, Condition = 0x00000000
I'm currently downloading Media Player 10, is it going to have a DVD Decoder in it? or do I still need to find one? And if I do need to, can someone recommend one (freeware, preferably)? Thanks in advance for any and all info!!!!

no, windows media player doesn't have its own dvd codecs for licensing reasons. however, if you install dvd software it will be able to use those codecs and play dvds through media player

O.K., can you recommend which DVD software? The NEC ND-3540A DVD-RW came with a Nero Disc that has various programs (Nero Smart Start, Nero Express 6, InCD4, Nero Vision Express 3-SE, Nero Photo Show Express, Nero ShowTime 2, Nero Media Home, Nero Media Player, Nero Cover Designer, Nero ToolKit) on it, but none of them specifically refer to playing DVD's (as near as I can tell) I have some of the Nero stuff from the disc that came with my Lite-On SOHR-5239S CD-RW installed but not everything, but I didn't install any of the stuff that came with the DVD-RW, because I wasn't sure what I did or didn't need (didn't want to duplicate).
