you're gonna run into trouble if it does not have the same hardware. also you can't run both computer with that operating os.

if you have your xp cd, you shouuuld be avle to do a fresh install. Just hope that it's not from a vendor such as Hp or Gatetway, because the disks won't work on another comp to prevent people giving others their cd for free.
