Unhappy downloading problem

hi

i am facing a download problem and really i am tired of it. when i want to download something and click on any downloadable link, after specifing the destination and name of the file, download starts. for two or three seconds it downloads fine( transfer rate 3-4 KB per second which is normal) but then it doesn't do anything and seems like it has stopped downloading the file.

for example i clicked on this link
http://www.winzip.com/downauto.cgi?file=wzcline.exe
download starts fine but after 3-4 percente download
it shows estimated time left: 1 hr 7 min
and transfer rate: 129 bytes/seconds.........
total download percentage: 8%
what does it mean? i have updated version of avg antivirus. there is no virus in our computer. i don't know what to do?

Probably another attack of spyware or malware or even adware Get Ad-aware se 1.05 from www.lavasoftusa.com

That happens to me all the time, I just have to run that nifty program and it fixes it right up

You should try Spybot aswell, good for spyware

Some cable modems have this kind of behaviour. In that case setting half duplex at network settings solves the problem.

Default problem solved

hey! tx very much
the problem has been solved.
i just did downloaded ad-aware. scaned whole computer for spyware, adware and it found 6 critical entries as follows........

obj[0]=IECache Entry : Cookie:theboss@servedby.advertising.com/
obj[1]=IECache Entry : Cookie:theboss@mediaplex.com/
obj[2]=IECache Entry : Cookie:theboss@gator.com/
obj[3]=IECache Entry : Cookie:theboss@fastclick.net/
obj[4]=IECache Entry : Cookie:theboss@atdmt.com/
obj[5]=IECache Entry : Cookie:theboss@advertising.com/

quarantined them, restarted the computer and it did the work.
tx again.

Default Hmm...

Hmmm...

I'm just curious as to how eliminating cookies would solve your download-stop problem...

I think ad-aware found (and removed) some spyware too, not just cookies.

actually the problem was with windows downloader
i have dap7 installed in my computer and it was working fine. it is my default download manager. but if any website redirects to a download link, it doesn't work. so the windows' downloader is used and i had the problem with windows' downloader.

i used dap to download ad-aware.
