Win Xp Changes Appearance Theme, It changes to high contrast black

I'm not sure which one I have, how can I check that?

right click on your desktop>properties>settings TAB

it should show your video driver in the field "Display:"

I reinstalled the driver and it still came on. I also took everything off of starup using msconfig, and it still happens. Also I forgot to mention earlier that each time before it changes the computer beeps. What would this mean?
