Hey ya, im having a problem with my networking, i have connected up 2 computers via a crossover cable and 2 10/100 ethernet cards(in which i no there is no hardware problems), 1 computer running on XP Home SP1, and the other is XP Pro, these computers really got sumfin goin on between them, i have had two other computers connected to the XP Pro computer prior to this 1 there was no problems, though the other 2 had Windows 98se, which was so much easier to set up. I think that the problem is on the host computer (the XPhome 1) , as it seems to block every thing that comes out of it, it seems to like its prvacy, it wont connect to other computers when using microphone on MSN Messenger, wont let any1 upload anything on peer to peer programs, it doesnt return data when it is pinged from the other computer, where as it works in the other direction. I am also having problems with the internet connection sharing, though fine on the host it wont share it. I can share files both ways but thats about it and thats no where near as fast as it shud be, its going at about the speed of my broadband connection.I hope sum1 can help me b4 the monitor goes out the window or a gash my fist up on it. It is really getting annoying, im lost for ideas on what to do. anywayz here the system information; by the way it wont work on LAN games either it dont see each other. The host: XP Home Athlon 3200+ 1024kb memory, Broadband modem and direct connection to phone line Hi spec graphics card and sound card 10/100 ethernet built in ( i no its not a hardware issue tho as i have tryed 2 differnt ethernet cards in each machine, swapped the host position round, tryed another cable and loads more stuff) The Client: XP Pro Athlon 1400+ 512kb memory Good Graphics card and sound card and a Kingston Ethernet Card 10/100 Is there sum setting that any of you lot no of that u have to change to get it to work i have exitted all my anti virus and firewalls on both PCs. (well the ones i no of anyways). Any help would be really appriciated, Thanks very much for reading all of that, Hope U can help Thanks Again!!!!!!! (feel free to email me) |

Nah your probly on a workgroup and if you not and you actually set up the scopes and active directory for a domain and the ms home some how is the domain controller. any ways with the lan games. Ensure (good drink) that they both have an ip and it isn't an APIP (192.168 Automatical placed IP) make sure it is what you set the DCHP server is sending out. and if they can ping eachother. If they can ping then it is ghay XP networking securities.
