2) More RAM couldn't hurt, but as long as you have 512M, it should be about it's peak performace... You might be able to free up some reasources, though, but closing un-needed programs running the the backgound...
Of course, if you add a new harddrive, that will require you reload the whole machine. However, this could possible provide the largest speed increase, if you get a drive that spins very fast... Most laptops just have 4200RPM drives, some 5200. Get yourself a 7200RPM drive and it should load things much faster. But, this will also cause the battery life to be much less...
3) Look around for partitioning software on this site. I know someone posted a list of freeware partitioning programs a while back. Find one you like, then look for a guide or ask directly about the program. It's quite easy,really...
