Default iPod problems

I'm having problems w/ my iPod. Everytime I plug it up and iTunes loads it gives me this message "Songs on the iPod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist." It started doing this the other day, I've rebooted and it still isn't helping. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I've uploaded almost all of my cd's to this thing and it worked fine, now all of a sudden after I've bought a few songs from iTunes; it won't update them and it deleted almost all of the songs from my iPod???? Any help is appreciated! Peace, Wes

did you give your ipod a name b4 you upload your songs? What kind of ipod you got? If you got a nano I probably can help you with it. Catch me on aim: tsang95. If you must. Also did you enter the right serial number for it. Sometime the box isn't just the serial number, the real serial number is in the back of your ipod. Its very small, It should say Serial No: 54dfdfdfd567. Something like that.

Well I've had my iPod mini 4 gig for a while now, it was just giving me issues w/ not wanting to update my playlist. I finally got it done after about 5 hours. It would load some songs, then tell me it couldn't b/c it ran outta room which was crap, I'd just click ok and click the update again and it'd load a few more songs, then do it again. Guess I won't be updating it again anytime soon, LOL!! Thanx, Wes
