if you get a lot of noise on your telephone line that can cause problems with dial up because the signal isn't clear enough, a bump in the signal voltage on the provider's end will usually help with this.

also, there may be an underlying problem with windows or internet explorer (or whatever browser you use).
if windows seems to be a lot more sluggish than it used to be i would consider formatting your system and reinstalling it as this usually does wonders for most systems.
however, i would wait until you recieve more replies on this thread before you go doing that as there may be a much simpler solution
