Red face Firewire!!

I have just been bought a firewire card for my homebuilt pc so that i can use my video camera with Adobe Premier.

However i have just installed the card and it comes up as a networking device. Being a TOTAL firewire n00b are there 2 types of firewire card? ie 1 for networking and 1 for video capture or does it come up as a networking device because thats is there most widely used function??

All firewire ports in any computer show up under "network connections", it can used for anything though.
