Default Yahoo messenger file transfer problem

I've only been able to get the file transfer to work on yahoo messenger once before, and then I messed up something in my pc and had to do a clean install of everything. Now file transfer won't work again. I'm using yahoo messenger with voice version 7,0,0,437 and it says my module is 6,0,0,600.

Does anyone have anyone here know of any procedures I could try to get this working again?

Not sure if this helps any, but I'm also using Netzero highspeed as my ISP and for a firewall I'm using the latest free version of zone alarm, which is, 6.1.737.000.

see if you are using a router, you might need to forward ports, i know with icq it wont let me do transfer unless i forward ports or dont use a router. also you can check the fireall and place yahoo messenger as a trusted program and allow everything.

I don't have a router hooked up to my pc, so that can't be it. I tried giving yahoo access to everything, and even that didn't work. I can't figure out how I managed to get it working before, because I didn't do a thing but download and install the software.

try making sure ur windows firewall isnt enabled...because it may be blocking it

also make sure u and the person ur transferring with both have the same version....i kno i cant transfer with my friends cuz they use like different versions of yahoo as well as other kinds of messaging programs

the new version of yahoo is so bloated that the good functions it was made for are all messed up

hope that helps

If the windows firewall on this thing is enabled, I can't do much of anything because it causes strange conflicts with the zone alarm firewall. Half the people I talk with on here have an older version of messenger and it lets me know what will work and what will not with them. I'm about ready to give up on this and just make another yahoo account and use gaim for file transfers because I at least know that works fine on here.

you can disable windows firewall....thats why you may be getting errors...have you tried accessing the file transfer through older versions of yahoo? I can actually give u a link to both mine and my friends site that allow you to download ALL the old builds and versions of yahoo...

start--->settings--->control panel---> windows firewall to access the firewall...click on the "off" button and go the the tab that says "exceptions" and make sure yahoo messenger is checked....also click on the "advanced" tab and be sure to UNCHECK the box that says "local area connection" or whatever u connection name may be...this is used for people who have mutlitple (wireless and wired) connections and only want to select to have the firewall enabled on one or the other..

if you need any more help let me know and i'll be more than happy to help
