Default How's this machine look?

A friend of mine wanted a new laptop(ugh, couldn't sell him mine ) So I suggested this one... How's it look to you guys?

Intel Pentium M 740, 1.73GHz, 2MB Cache, 533FSB
14" Wide WXGA LCD Display
512M RAM
60GB 5400rpm, 8MB buffer, 2.5" IDE Hard Drive
DVD/CD-RW
56K Modem & 10/100 Network
DVD-RW(I've got to ask if it's duel layer...
GForce 6400 128MB, TV out
USB 2.0 and Firewire ports
Flash Card Reader (MMC/MS/SD)
6-Cell Lithium Ion Battery
Carrying Case
Weighs 4.99 lbs, 1.1” thin
1 year parts and labor warranty

$1200

This is a custom built system from a local shop. I like this idea because it'll be easy to return if need be. I'll probably check one of these out later on to see how they really run. But like, how's the GF4 6400? I've never heard of that one, but I really try to avoid onboard video

Little overpriced yes. I'm guessing this will be for business use? I have run many searches for the GForce 6400 128MB, but nothing will show up! Grrr... how much would it cost to put in 512 mb more of memory? The hard drive might also be a little slow, 7,200 RPM?

For a laptop 7200RPM is still very fast, running a 10K or 15K RPM drive will drain the battery VERY fast!

I was thinking the same thing. Overpriced.
Ours is a name brand HP laptop with an athlon64 1.8ghz, 512MB ram, 40GBhd, 128MB Ati radeon with tv out, firewire, USB2 out the butt, card reader built in, dvd/cdrw combo and it was only around $900. Keep in mind it's name brand.

You can get one from dell that has similar specs, but is a 15.4" widescreen, brightview, 1GB DDR2, and a GeForce Go 6800 for around $1200.

You said it's made at a local shop? Do you know the make of it? Most likely it's a barebone and they drop in the components. We do the same. So I was just curious.
