There's lots of technical stuff about it
here, but basically it's to do with the fact that proteins don't do much in one particular shape, but they change shape for different purposes, and when they "mis-fold", then you get diseases. I think the program is trying to work out under what circumstances the proteins misfold, and whether there's the possibility of predicting when this takes place.
As I said, it's complicated, they've got some of Stanford's brightest Biochemists working on it.
