OK if i plug a cable wich has video plug on both sithes on the back of a desktop into the back of a laptop would it show what the desktop.

just hook the monitor to your notebooks vga port.

You can't do that... Well, I guess you COULD get a capture card and use TV Out if you have it to go into the laptop that way, but the quality would be horrible.
