What exactly are you trying to do? Put music from your PC to your MP3 Player?

What happens when you connect the MP3 Player to the PC?

Hello- The Intel (R) 82371AB/EB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller is what the mp3 player connects to (USB port?)... I think... And it's with this that I have the problem because Intel stopped supporting this model so it's impossible to update the USB driver so I can interface with the mp3 player.Apparently there is a updated driver for the 82371AB/EB but i can't find it anywhere,i've been trying for day's. I guess i need a updated USB driver(impossible to find) or do i have to replace the whole board? I know next to nothing about comoputer's so i'm clueless.I opened the case and it looks like the USB port is glued or soldered to the board so i can't replace just that. The summary is that my USB port does not acknowledge the mp3 player because the driver is outdated and no longer supported and i don't know what i can do about it. it's a fairly common problem among older pc's i guess because i've seen people asking the same thing all over the place(about the 82371) but nobody's posted a solution, somebody please help with this. Thankyouforyourtime also what's a BIOS update? would that help?

If you need USB2 for the MP3 player, then your only recourse is to try and find an USB2 add-in card or replace the motherboard.

You have a five-year-old machine, if you were looking for an excuse to upgrade, then here's your excuse.

I tried the windows xp update but apparently i have a pirated version of xp so they would'nt let me download it. Let's see.. it's a Intel Pentium 111 600MHz 100 FSB Coppermine Proccessor with 597 MHz 224 MB RAM, the micron site said that it's upgradable to 700 something MB so i'm going to do that also a Seattle 2P11 440BX ATX Integrated Comp motherboard, Western Digital XL 20.5 GB IDE ATA66 7200 RPM if there is anthing else thats relevant that i left out let me know because i'm just copying this stuff down i don't know what any of it does. Ok so i plug my rio cali mp3 into the USB and it does'nt even show, when i do a device check it just say's unknown device. Thankyouforyourtime
