Default computer doesnt start, please help

not sure where to post this. I was just randomly using the internet on my computer and it froze on me, so I had to force shut down it. Now when I try to bootup, it says Windows encountered an error and gives me options for regular startup, safe mode, or last known working configuration. Problem is, which ever one I choose, it seems like its about to load up, because the status bar will start moving, but then it will just freeze up everytime. Is this something im going to need a windows disk for? thats what im thinkin, and it sucks because i don't have one. thanks for any help

i'd say get ahold of a windows cd and try to run a repair on windows.
if that does not work, you are more then likely looking at a format and reload
