Angry Can I throw it out the window?

I've had my Compaq Presarios V4000 since May. When I first got it, it worked fine until August. I went away for a week and when I turned the computer back on it was very slow and the iTunes was jumping through all the songs. I could play DVDs fine. I did all the virus scans etc to find the problem and nothing came up, so when it basically stopped working I reformatted it. This worked perfectly and I partitioned the hard drive into C and D. About 2 weeks later the same thing happened again; slow computer, iTunes and basic sound stuttering. I reformatted it again and it worked for about a month. Since then, I have had to reformat the computer 6 times after it does the same thing.

However, in the past 2 days the problem has been worse. Now, the computer is running super slow - it took 6 minutes to load the start menu. I have tried repairing windows, reformatting windows and checking all the registry/dlls/viruses etc possible. After reformatting it, the computer lasts about 2 hours before it stops working again. I can still play DVDs and music from my iPod without it stuttering and jumping through the sounds, but even the error sounds are bad. In the past 2 days I have had error messages such as: hal.dll file is missing, dumprep.exe failed to initialize, disk read error. It has also failed to run a diagnostic test from the Setup menu and the Check disk tests have also failed.

Has anyone got any hints/tips/suggestions for me? I have tried to fix this thing over and over again and now I'm ready to throw it out of the window!

Please help!

My advice would be to check and see if there could be a specific reason why that is happening. Maybe type into Google your problem and see if anyone else has had that problem. I don't know what else you can do srry.

it sounds like your hard drive is screwed. if its fine when you reformat and then goes back after a little use i would definately say hard drive. you should be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer if its under warranty.
