I am building a low-cost second system to use on rare occasions. I already have two 256MB Muskin PC3200 DDR400 2-2-2 modules that I'd like to use in the second system I'm building.
My question is... I bought a Gigabyte GA-8I848P-G motherboard and would like to get a P4 2.4A 533 FSB processor for it. However, according to the manual it says- "Due to chipset achitecture limitation, a FSB 800 P4 processor will support DDR400/DDR333/DDR266 memory module. A FSB 533 P4 processor will support DDR333 and DDR266 memory module." Now does this mean my Mushkin DDR400 memory modules won't work with a 533 FSB P4 processor? I thought that faster memory would run at slower speeds without a problem. If my DDR400 memory will work with the P4 2.4 processor, what settings should I set in the bios for memory frequency. The options for 533 FSB are: x 2.0, x 2.5 and Auto by DRAM SPD. Thanks for the help. |
