Well I think you already made your desicion with the first line of your statement. I have to admit, those Qosmio screens are pretty nice. not too fond of glossies, but those are great. Since you don't plan on taking the system with you, the Qosmio should be perfect for a stationary multimedia station. Graphics & performance should be good enough.

As for the IBM T42, these 2 systems aren't even in the same class. The T42 is a lot smaller, lighter, great build, very professional, and perfect for carrying around when you're on the go. Also a matte, normal ratio screen; not wide & glossy. If portability was a must for you, I would've recommended the IBM.

I went to buy a Toshiba Qosmio G25 directly from Toshiba and they informed me that the Qosmio line was pulled off the shelf and disscontinued. They would not say why but said they were introducing the new Qosmio in Feb. and would go onsale in March.

I currently have a Toshiba Satellite notebook and have had great service from it. I am in the Army National Guard and I have deployed to 3 hurricanes and been to Afghanistan and Germany and took my puter with me. I wanted the Qosmio for several reasons especially since I can use it as a TV as well as a computer.

Does anyone here know of any problems they were having with the Qosmio? Also what changes they are making on the new line of Qosmio computers?

Actually I don't know what that sales rep was talking about, there's a new Qosmio coming out in a few weeks. It'll be a Qosmio with a HD-DVD drive (first on a laptop). I haven't heard of any problems with the Qosmios. The only changes are Centrino Duo, HD-Drive, and a brighter screen. Don't know why it needs a brighter one, since I don't think people'll be carrying this sucker around or even outside.

I actually ordered it from Toshiba on 5 Jan and called their customer service dept to find out the status of my order and thats when they told me it had been pulled from the shelf the end of Dec. As far as out side goes I live way out in the sticks and when the weather is nice I sometimes take my notebook computer out on the front or back porch. I love wireless internet DSL.

I am in the Army National Guard and will take this puter with me when I deploy all over the world and for hurricanes along the Gulf Coast.

No problem. I'm a fan of technology, can't wait to see how the HD-DVD goes. Good luck in the National Guard, I've seen our carbon fiber laptops survive in the middle east. I hope yours will too.
