its pretty good, considering the MSRP price is 499. and your getting 256mb extra.

however, if you are willing to add about another 50. you can get a Kodak 6.1 MP EasyShare Z760 Digital Camera with the camera dock. comapred to a 4 MP. then if you can dish out another 9 dollar, you can get a digital camera starter kit. All courtesy of Walmart.

and there are also better ones like 5MP or more that you can find also.

but, do you know what your wife will be using it mainly for?
but if you like that one in particular, i think your getting a pretty good bargain. its not refurb or anything is it?

dont look at the megapixel rating and use that as a basis for what youre going to get.

Cannon is by far the best consumer level camera-makers. They are a little overpriced sometimes, but they work great with Windows XP.
I've had many problems with Fujifilm, I wouldn't recomend them.
I have no experience with Kodak.

I was looking at this one because she is looking at maybe gettin into some media classes and this one has several different lenses and flashes I can get in the future. These one also has decent optical zoom which from what I've read is better to use than digital zoom because digital just fills in the pixels.

well, from me, since you are getting it at that price. i think its a good deal

however, if you are talking about the optical zoom and what not, it is really not that good. its optical zoom is only 3x, if you do not use the viewfinder, the 1.8 lcd is somewhat small. batteries are not rechargeable if you do plan to continuously use it, unless you buy rechargeable battery. the future upgrades are good. its good that the price have gone down a bit.

if she is goin through media class, its alwas good to have like a 5MP pixel camera to help with pixelation if you plan on printing or blowing up images and what not, but like i said, for the price you are getting for it, it is really a good deal. however if you are willing to spend a little bit more, there are probably better ones with a more powerful optical zoom if that is what you are looking for.
