Default Connecting 5.1piece system to laptop

Hi Guys,
I got a 5.1piece music system from one of the friend and wanted to use as external speakers for my laptop. But since this music system doesn't have a 3.5mm connector, I can't directly attach it to laptop. Each of the boxes in this music system has a wire-end. I am sure there should be some way to connect but i don't know how.

If you guys can tell, it would be great,
thx,
badmad

Hmm.... bare wires on the end of the speaker cables???
If so that would sugest that the speakers need to be plugged into an AMP or a Stereo system... then from that into your laptop via the 3.5mm stereo jack.

i thought of this using stereo system too but it would be too bulky to keep near the laptop. How about the amp? Do I get a small amp which just suffice my requirement here?

thx,
