Default Epson printer messed up Windows

I have W2K Pro, I installed an Epson R300 printer, the one with the card reader in it, and my computer would not boot up. I went to Microsoft and found a fix, it had me back up to an old registry from dos. That got me back up, but now when I boot up, my second drive is not there all of the time, I have found out how to fix this for the time, but my CDRW drive will not read a CD that I used Direct CD on, and not closed, now when I try to update the driver on the CD, it crashes my system. What can I try to fix the CD without reloading Windows. The CD reads other CDs fine and will read one that I have closed with Direct CD.
