Default PDA Memories

Am I missing something here? In my iminent quest to find a suitable PDA to buy, most units seem to incorporate flash cards to account for the 'internal' memory. Whether mostly from a card or not - most units seem to go up to at most 256 flash memory such as the AXIM 51v. BUT Ive had my eye on the Palm lifedrive of late and that seems to openly have 4GB of hard drive space alone! It also seems to do everything the other units do but with much more memory.... is there any resoning behind this? Or an explanation why people are going for units rel;ying on unhuge CF card add ons where you could get a unit that has 4 gigs!!?? IS the lifedrive a great buy??????
