This comes out to about $960 w/shipping on newegg, and I'm getting windows xp home elsewhere for $50. Here's the parts.
Case- Antec Sonata II http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129155 Processor- AMD X2 3800+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103562 Mobo- Chaintech VNF4 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813152053 DVD Burner- NEC Black http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827152055 HDD- Maxtor QuickView 100GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144239 Vid Card- eVGA Geforce 7800GT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130256 Memory- Corsair ValueSelect 1gb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145440 Any changes you would make? Any suggestions would be helpful (within the budget, of course). Also, this will be my first build, and I know very little about building PCs (though I know people who do). Any tips for that would be cool too. -mash edit: Also, I have a problem. Right now all I have monitor wise is an old magnavox (17in I think). I think it can get 1024x768 res. Would you suggest downgrading a bit (maybe to a AMD athlon 3500+) and getting a nicer monitor? Last edited by mash; 12-17-2005 at 06:01 AM. |

That looks good! The only thing I would change is that if you get this video card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130238 You get a free motherboard and you cut out some money for maybe a bigger hard drive or something. I highly recomend you get a seperate PSU then the one included in the case.
