Default my cd drive just stopped reading help

i just got a new computer and my cd drive didnt work so i thought it was just faulty so i put in a cd drive from another computer and it worked fine at first until i booted again. now neither will read cds and plus when i tried to put in my old one it wont boot right so i have to go into safe mode. help!!!

are the jumpers set correctly? If your computer has 2 CD drives on 1 IDE cable then one has to be set to master and the other to slave.

no theres only one cd drive and ive checked the jumpers ive tried it both at cable select and master. it worked for a lil bit b4 it quit.

1. If you need something so that the system can boot, try using that OTHER cd drive in this machine for the time being
2. What are the system specs including the make and model of the cd drives?
