I'd go for an nForce4 motherboard, over a Via chipset, preferably an SLI capable one. I also think the FX-53 only take registered memory, which be more expensive. Ever think of going the X2 route?

i'm getting this thing off someone pre-built have option to change the hdd to sata but otherwise everything is as is. also got with it some medusa headphones, 5.1 speakers (dond think any special brand- but i already have cambridge soundworks which are brilliant!).
Also get a 15" TFT monitor which I will prob sell and get a 17/19" one instead. Sony DVD/RW. Whole package for about £550+50delivery, so looks like a good deal to me? Wondering if people here think its good? Where exactly does the Fx-53 sit on the league table of current CPU's? Last edited by sucha; 12-18-2005 at 10:45 PM. |

The FX series is the best (arguably, but the FX-57 outshines all others) for gaming on the market. That said, the FX53 is not at the top of the FX chart, its behind the 55 and the 57. Many people would still kill for an FX53, as it is extremely fast in gaming. You're receiving a nice processor.

It might, as they have the same speed/cache/core but that doesn't dispute the fact that it's a nice processor. I'd take one...

well, diffrent core, the FX-53 uses a Clawhammer core, not San Deigo, 55 and 57 use it though.. but the only thing i like about the FX series is the unlocked multiplier

Oh OK, they used a Clawhammer in a 4000, but you did specify San Diego now that I look back. Unlocked multipliers would be nice, although I've never OCed with them...
